About

Our Mission

Through our commitment, we aim to transform personal and community narratives into impactful instruments for social justice. By embracing the original, positive meaning of 'woke,' we spark conversations that challenge misconceptions and advocate for genuine equity and comprehension. This is a space where the stories and legacies of Black mothers are not only remembered but are actively celebrated and used to strengthen our communities and push us forward, while honoring our history and the profound contributions of our mothers—our creators.

Our Vision

At Woke Mommy Chatter, we envision a world where the narratives of Black mothers are celebrated as fundamental pillars of our society. Our vision is to create a universally accessible platform where these stories are not only preserved but are also recognized as essential teachings that contribute to our collective understanding and progress. We aspire to cultivate an environment where the voices of Black mothers resonate in every community, influencing policy, shaping cultures, and inspiring future generations.

How We Work

We Celebrate Black Motherhood Unfiltered

Anchored in Black feminisms, Woke Mommy Chatter is a proudly and unapologetically woke organization. We are dedicated to amplifying the authentic voices of Black mothers. Through the power of storytelling, we are reclaiming the narrative that has been obscured by the legacy of colonialism and the brutality of enslavement. We stand tall in the truth of our experiences, shedding light on the depth, warmth, and diversity of Black motherhood.

We Use Storytelling as Resistance

Our stories are acts of resistance. They preserve the past and envision a future where the experiences of Black mothers are not invisible but are seen, valued, and understood. By telling our own stories, we keep a historical record that celebrates our authentic motherhood experience—our triumphs, challenges, and unwavering resilience

We Advocate for Food Sovereignty and Ancestral Connections

Recognizing our ancestral connection to the land, Woke Mommy Chatter champions food security and sovereignty for Black mothers. We understand that empowerment includes the ability to feed our families with dignity and independence. Our initiatives support Black mothers in accessing the means to nourish their families on their own terms.

We Support the Pillars of Our Community:

Caregivers Caregivers are the backbone of our communities, providing essential support across generations. At Woke Mommy Chatter, we offer programming that acknowledges and strengthens the role of caregivers, ensuring they receive the recognition and resources they deserve. At Woke Mommy Chatter, we’re not just having a conversation—we’re igniting a movement. Our stories are our legacy, and we’re here to ensure they’re told with the reverence they deserve.

Her passion lies in crafting narratives that speak to the heart of equity, with a steadfast commitment to anti-oppression and an anti-Black racism lens. As a mother of two remarkable children, her family is her strength.

Professionally, she is multifaceted. Kearie has co-founded, founded, and led multiple non-profits. She leads KAMA Consulting, a forward-thinking agency specializing in inclusive communications and non-profit leadership coaching. Here, she channels her expertise into creating equity-centered messaging and strategies that resonate and disrupt.

Her advocacy work is where her spirit truly ignites. Kearie is a staunch defender of Black parental voices and a relentless advocate for children. Her resolve to dismantle inequities extends to her current role as the Founder and Executive Director of the Black Women's Institute for Health. This pivotal institution casts a spotlight on the disparities Black women confront across all social determinants of health, including abilities, early life, education, employment and finance, race, food insecurity, access to health services, housing, and sexual orientation. The institute delves into the crucial factors that influence health outcomes, including access to healthcare, education, socioeconomic status, and more, advocating for a more just and equitable healthcare landscape.
