About

Our Mission

Woke Mommy Chatter is driven by a profound mission: to illuminate the path of the Black motherhood experience. We understand that this journey is multifaceted, filled with both joy and challenges. Our aim is to be a beacon of light on this path, offering unwavering support and resources to all Black mothers and caregivers.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every Black mother and caregiver feels empowered, heard, and celebrated. Through capacity building, knowledge sharing, storytelling, and creative outlets, we aspire to create a community that uplifts and amplifies the voices of Black mothers and caregivers everywhere.

Parent Advocate, Writer, Activist, Communicator, Speaker

Woke Mommy Chatter is a labour of love. Created as a space for me to share my Black motherhood journey. It has turned into an advocacy and education platform for Black mothers looking to see and hear their stories told. It’s also a place for allies and accomplices looking to learn more and activate for change. Whatever brings you here… this blog, podcast, or workshop is for you.

A Little About Me

I’m a mom of two. I’m also a communicator by trade and lead consultant at KAMA Communications, an inclusive communications and marketing agency. I focus on communications centered in equity, anti-oppression and driven by an anti-Black racism lens. While my professional accomplishments fuel me, what gives me life and inspiration (besides my kids) is the activism and advocacy work I do on behalf of Black parents. I am a proud Co-Founder and inaugural Executive Director of an organization called Parents of Black Children, an organization dedicated to driving transformational change for Black kids in Ontario’s education system. I am also the Founder and Lead Consultant at KAMA Consulting, an inclusive communications and equity firm.
